Hello Diana,

Glad to hear you found this article helpful.

I am not sure what works when you are outside UK and want to register as architect here. Check on ARBs official website.

If you have an Architect registration in Canada, check whether you can convert/transfer to a British ARB registration. I know that it’s possible to do that between some commonwealth countries and UK, such as USA and South Africa for example. So check on that. In that case, now that you are in Canada you can continue to register there. And transfer when you get here.

To practice as an architect in UK you need to register with ARB. A RIBA membership alone does not qualify you as architect.

These suggestions are made from my memory of reading on this topic. It may have changed or I simply could be wrong. I would encourage you to do your own research based on your circumstance as it’s quite different from mine.

Hope this is helpful.

Good luck!
