Letters to the Unknown

A poem

Dear mind
You have been kind
To the frail and fright
That my heart has wound
I have wandered to land so far
That I cannot return to the known thus far
For too long have I
Not returned to my ward.
My peril is my own and I suffer
In quiet that I shed no tear.
Like a migrating bird lost in the ocean
I rush towards land
Looking for the unknown
Home bound yet every passing hour
Home is farther

In despair that I have come to realise
I am that monkey on the rock
That cannot foster in flocks of another.
Dear mind so wise in power
Why have you not lost your quiver
And the shiver even in the warmth of another.
